Children's & Teenage
Comedian, banjo-player, and author of comic mystery novels for adults and children, Ray grew up in Dublin, where he was educated by the Irish Christian Brothers without suffering any major fractures or concussion. He has achieved considerable success in staying out of jail and has so far retained most of his teeth and some of his hair. His first novel, Kumarkan, was highly regarded by his dog until it choked on the seventh chapter. Winner of the 1992 Brendan Behan Award for the longest Dublin pub-crawl, Ray returned home to a rousing welcome, a civic reception and divorce proceedings from his wife.
A tea-totaller, he now lives in the West of Ireland with a dog, three cats and a small cloud of midges. He enjoys fly-fishing, trying to make sense of the weather forecast and being lectured to by his daughter.
You can read four examples of Ray's writing by clicking:
Kumarkan - comic fantasy mystery thriller for 9 to 90 year-olds.
The Quern Stone - teenage mystery for all ages.
